Project Description
The client’s brief was to design and build an eye-catching, luxurious bathroom that would be the feature of the home, with square lines and a minimalist style.  The existing bathroom in the home was demolished and an entirely new bathroom designed.  Three Velux™ sky windows were added to the roof to maximise light in the room and open the area up.  The wall linings were upgraded to 9mm Villaboard™, with the existing particle board flooring being removed and replaced with compressed fibro.  A new Trend Quantum™ louvre window was installed to replace the existing standard window, with a power operated electric roller-blind fitted.  The floor has Warmtech™ under tile heating with a programmable timer.  The tiles used on the floor, shower panel and bath area are 300x300 Dark Emprador marble, with 1200x600 Travertine stone-looking porcelain tiles on the walls.  In the shower, a Platinum stainless steel trough drain is fitted in the floor and there are two recesses built into the wall of the shower panel; one for concealing toiletries and the other to rest the foot when shaving.  The frameless shower screen is 10mm, with no door to achieve an open and minimalist look.  The custom made vanity is 2-pac polyurethane, fixed directly to the wall, with shark-tooth draws.  The vanity top is custom made Dark Emprador marble to match the floor, bath and shower panel, with white Parisi™ basins imported from Italy.  The mirrors above the vanity basins reflect back to a full length mirror concealed behind the door.  All of the tapware has the square and minimalist look and it is also imported from Italy, with the mixers being Gessi™ (imported by Abey), and the waterfall bath filler and shower head by Fantini™ (imported by Roger Sellers).  This waterfall bath filler was positioned under the window to complement the peaceful, tropical setting through the window and to be an eye-catching feature of the room.  The hard-wired heated towel rail is on a programmable timer, with a delay switch to ensure safety.  The luxurious Villeroy & Boch™ toilet has a soft close lid and square lines.  The Decina™ spa bath has additional therapeutic massage jets, dual head rests and an electronic control pad with a heated pump.  The sky windows are positioned directly over the bath.  The room is lit with low voltage stainless steel down lights, ensuring that there is task lighting, feature lighting and ambient lighting on dimmer controlled switches.  The exhaust fans have been concealed in the roof opposite the sky windows.
